Dear
Buckskin Horse Enthusiasts;
Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Jennifer
Ross and I am honored to represent the Mid-America
Buckskin Horse Association of Indiana as your 2006 MABA
Queen.
I’ve
been showing buckskins since the age of nine. I started
out showing walk trot and halter with my three year old
mare, Complimintary Image. Things have sure changed
since the good old days of walk trot! Throughout my many
years of riding, IBHA World Championship Shows, and
other showing experiences I have been blessed to belong
to a group, or ‘family,’ that has taught me many of
life’s little lessons. I never imagined back when I
climbed into our infamous ’87 red Chevrolet pickup truck
with my Dad, and went to my first show in Bluffton,
Indiana that I would someday be able to give back a
small part of what I have gained through being a member
and exhibitor in MABA.
I have
always owned and showed IBHA registered horses. It is
nice to go to a show and know the people you compete
against. Anybody who has been to one of our shows knows
that it is impossible to leave without making at least
one friend! As ventured to other organization to show,
nothing has been able to hold a candle to the warmth of
MABA.
When I went to my first IBHA World Show in 1996 and
observed the IBHA Queen’s Contest I knew that one day I
wanted to be up front doing what those girls were doing.
It really began to hit home when our 1998 MABA Queen
Miss Kelly Mullendore won the Miss Buckskin World
Contest. Being a family friend of hers I got to see
first hand how much she enjoyed representing MABA and
becoming Miss Buckskin World. I would like to take
the time to thank all the people that have made this
possible for me. We had wonderful sponsors for the
Queen’s contest, and a lot of work went into putting it
all together. I would like to thank Amy Hollowell for
all her efforts, as well as congratulate First Runner Up
Crystal Lynch and Second Runner Up Kasey Burkhart for
their accomplishments. Also, I would like to thank all
the members of our great association for all that they
do. It is impossible to keep a club running without all
the hard work that every member volunteers. Most of all
I would like to thank my parents, Curtis and Sheryl
Ross, for recognizing a little girl’s love of horses and
allowing, as well as funding, all the wonderful
experiences I have been blessed to have. Thanks to all.
I look forward to representing MABA in Denver, Colorado
next year!
Thank
you and God bless
Jennifer Ross
